Leg 'o Mutton Rifle Case

From the QCDG archives, I made this custom gun case a few years back for the president of Orvis. It required a full size wood form that was used to wet mold the leather to. Fully lined in shearling and stitched on the good 'ol Landis K outsole stitcher. This thing came out bomb proof! Click the link below to see a few more shots.

  1. Looks great. Can you tell more info on the way you built it?

  2. Sure. I first made a solid wood for of the negative/interior, cut and soaked 12 oz natural belting leather and then molded it the the wood form with tacks. After a couple days it was dry and ready for the next steps. All the stitching was done on an outsole stitcher. I also hand dyed it. Let me know if you have any other questions.
